How crafting works
Open the crafting tab in your inventory and press an item to craft it. Items that are greyed out are missing a skill level or an ingredient. Drag crafted items onto your hotbar so you can place or use them.
Skills that matter for crafting
- Building lets you craft better items and place blocks from farther away.
- Engineering lets you craft and use better items and makes your Steampack more efficient.
- Automata unlocks turrets and butler bots.
- Horticulture lets you plant advanced bulbs for better flowers.
Building tips
- Place blocks from a distance as your Building level rises: it saves a lot of walking.
- Use turrets to guard the approach to your base.
- Craft a wide variety of items early. Crafting 20 to 100 items also counts towards building achievements.
Protect your work
In shared worlds other players can damage unprotected builds. Use protectors or a private world to keep your base safe.
